Redpine Signals, Renesas, and Exosite Showcase Wi-Fi Enabled Cloud-computing Platform

by Mike Aanenson, on March 1, 2012

Redpine’s ultra-low-power 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity on Renesas MCUs coupled with cloudbased services from Exosite form easy-to-deploy M2M solutions.

Boston, MA, Feb 27, 2012 – Redpine Signals, Inc., a leading developer of ultra-low-power, high-performance multi-standard wireless chipsets and modules, and Exosite, a provider of cloud-connectivity solutions for embedded applications, today announced a cloud-connected solution enabled on Renesas RX62N and RX63N microcontrollers. Showcased exclusively at the Arrow Electronics M2M Seminar Series, the partnership solution demonstrates Wi-Fi enabled, cloud-based M2M applications on several Renesas development kits .

The Exosite platform provides remote device monitoring and management, data storage and interaction with remote devices while maintaining open-source device software product developers may re-use to accelerate time-to-market when designing their own cloud-connected products. “Redpine’s 802.11n wireless technology drives the power of cloud-connectivity for low-power systems across multiple vertical segments,” said Erik Rorvick, business development manager for Exosite. “Redpine’s offerings make it easy to integrate 802.11 technology to drive the next generation of M2M cloud-connected devices.”

“The collaboration between Exosite, Renesas and Redpine uniquely addresses the critical needs of the M2M ecosystem – computing, connectivity, and software services, in one platform,” said Venkat Mattela, CEO of Redpine Signals. “This solution accelerates the deployment of M2M solutions in multiple market segments with future-proof connectivity based on single stream 802.11n Wi-Fi and a user-friendly cloud-based approach.”

"Renesas is proud to participate in this collaboration which significantly accelerates the deployment of connected industrial systems," said Todd DeBoer, Director, Mass Market Group of Renesas. "Exosite and Redpine have provided for easy integration of all of the building blocks - from hardware schematics, wireless connectivity, and cloud-capable firmware, to data platform APIs and web dashboards, enabling developers to quickly build high-performance products with Renesas 32-bit RX microcontrollers in this emerging field."

“The Arrow Electronics Machine-to-Machine Seminar Series provides technology engineering and management professionals the knowledge and means to incorporate M2M technology into their business strategy, and the showcasing of this cloud-based solution on an M2M platform with Wi-Fi connectivity fits perfectly into those goals,” said Aiden Mitchell, director of embedded marketing for Arrow Electronics.

Exosite Services, Redpine Wireless Products and Renesas Processors and Development Kits are all distributed as part of Arrow Electronic’s Machine-To-Machine product lineup.
